Great movies aren't that hard to find, but a movie that touches you mentally is really something exclusive. I got inspired to write this post after watching the movie Lucy. The movie is only rated 6,4/10 on IMDb, but it has a great impact on the viewer. The movie was about a girl who slowly unlocked 100% of her brain-capacity (the average human is said to be accessing and using only 10% of its brain-capacity). The movie showed the different stages of consciousness that can be accessed as we move up from 10% to 100%. I wont spoil the details of what went on in the movie, but I encourage everyone to watch it! Below is a countdown of 5 movies that got me in a whole different state of mind. I'd like to think that these movies changed the way I think and unlocked some areas of my mind.

5. Seven Pounds (2008)

Okay, I love Will Smith and I've seen pretty much all of his movies but this one really leaves you feeling some type of way. This movie opens you up to a new feeling of empathy and greater compassion. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who is overly sensitive, but hey, even I handled it so why couldn't you? :)

4. Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

I saw this for the second time recently and I remembered how much of a beautiful story this movie is. It's rich in colors, indian culture and highlights some socio-economic problems. This movie made me trust divine timing and destiny.

3. The Matrix (1999)

The Matrix can be hard to pick up on the first time you watch it, but it is a game changer for you once you've understood it. I love this movie for challenging my perception of reality. Do we live in a simulation? Who knows..

2. Lucy (2014)

I felt a little bit overwhelmed after watching this, but in a good way. I love the symbolism in the movie (for example how the first "ape/human" was named Lucy and how the main character is also named Lucy and meets up with this ancestral being in the movie. I also love the whole intensiveness of the story and how it goes on very unexpectedly throughout the movie.

1. Fight Club (1999)

I don't know if I've ever seen a more psychologically smart movie. Fight Club is the ultimate cult-movie that changes you forever. It might be the best movie I've seen, but if I told you why, I would spoil it for those who've missed out on this masterpiece so go ahead and watch it, buddies!
